Attend One, Serve One – The Living Christmas Tree

The 39th Living Christmas Tree (LCT) is quickly approaching. Each year offers a new presentation, but the message is always the same. If you are unfamiliar with this annual event, here are a few details: The Living Christmas Tree is presented as a gift to the community from First Baptist Church by a 100 voice choir, full orchestra and drama cast. The 39 foot metal constructed tree is covered with 80,000 computer controlled lights moving in synchronization to music. It is a unique sight to behold. The purpose and heartbeat of this event is to share the gospel message of Christ and His love.

Tickets, Posters and Yard Signs

The combined attendance for the four presentations is usually around 3,400. It is vital that many use the LCT tickets to invite people! A personal invitation to friends, family and the community is the number one way to help boost attendance. Please use the LCT invite tickets, posters and yard signs to spread the word, so we can share The Word!

Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift – not from works, so that no onc can boast.” (HSCB) As God the Father extends His grace through the Son, to those who believe, so we desire to extend this “free gift” to our community.  If you desire to be involved in this ministry, here are a variety of ways to be involved:

Volunteer for Presentation Dates – December 13, 14, 15

Sign-up sheets are in the Hall of Memories for those who would like to help as Greeters, Ushers, Childcare Workers, Parking Attendants and at the Cookie and Cider table during each presentation. Team captains have been appointed and they will give guidance to each volunteer position. Attend One, Serve One.

So, maybe you are not a singer, actor or instrumentalist. Here are a few other ways to be involved in this church-wide ministry:

LCT Prayer Warriors

There is a saying, “Little prayer, little power; some prayer, some power; much prayer, much power.” Please join in praying for the LCT. We need much prayer!

Food Baskets

Every year we ask people who attend the Living Christmas Tree performances to contribute non-perishable food items. Remember, each Sunday School department is responsible for identifying deserving families, filling and delivering the boxes between December 15-22.

Holiday in the Park Parade

The Lawton Holiday in the Park Parade was this past Saturday night. First Baptist Church entered the parade again with the, “Living Christmas Tree Float,” provided by Dan and Saradell Horton. We had forty-five people representing the church by singing or passing out LCT tickets to the crowed. Thank you to all who participated and helped make it happen!

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.” Psalm 29:2
