We have had a great January here at First Baptist Church Lawton-Fort Sill. This month has been a busy time in our church. We have completed our “50 Visits” after the Living Christmas Tree; the Pastor has issued his “Devotional Challenge”. I hope we all were challenged to participate with missions during our France mission’s fundraiser and our Missions Fair. We have had two wonderful weekends with Creation Ministries International and the Strength Team where we had the opportunity to engage new people and see the gospel shared.
And now we are on to February! I ask for you to be in prayer for the two new classes we are starting this week, Singles and Ladies. I challenge everyone to get together and fellowship on Super Bowl Sunday with their Sunday School group.
Then the time is here for Discipleship University! Discipleship is a critical component for maintaining and growing our relationship with our Savior and Father. I recently read a survey that found that 6 out of every 10 evangelical pastors believed their own church was not “doing well” at leading new believers and promoting spiritual growth through discipleship. We cannot be a healthy church and at the same time be a church that does not train and encourage people in their personal growth. We need to be a part of discipleship.
Discipleship University, DU, is going to meet at 5:30 Sunday evenings beginning on February 10th. Come at 5:30 on the 10th, have some coffee and snacks and hear from all nine of our facilitators. Yes, we are offering NINE classes! This gives you an opportunity to make a choice and sign up for a class. Classes will run weekly until April 14th.
Come Sunday night February 10th at 5:30 pm and get signed up for a time of growth this spring. Take the step to live out 2 Timothy 3:16-17; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
