Charlotte Diggs “Lottie” Moon was a Southern Baptist Missionary to China for nearly 40 years from 1883-1912. Lottie was 32 years old when she accepted a call from the Foreign Mission Board to go to China. Lottie was only 4ft 3in tall, but she was huge in taking the Gospel message to the Chinese people. Her converts numbered in the hundreds. She was at first rejected, but found that baking cookies and taking them to people they began listening to what she had to say about Jesus. In 1888 Lottie helped form the very first Christmas offering for Missions to foreign countries. Southern Baptist churches raised $3315 that year and it was enough to send 3 new missionaries to China.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 15:20, that it was his desire to preach the Gospel to those who had never heard it. He knew they would have no hope of salvation if someone did not tell them about Jesus. The IMB goal for 2016 is $155 million. Every dollar given to “Lottie Moon” is used to send and equip missionaries to foreign countries.

Our goal at FBC this year is $40,000. We met and surpassed our goal of $30,000 last year. Surely we can do the same this year with your help. We cannot all go to foreign lands to spread the gospel, but we can all help by giving prayerfully and generously to “Lottie Moon” during the month of November. We have the greatest news in all the world for men, women, and children, who have never heard about our Savior. Please have a part in sharing it.
