As Nov begins here at First Baptist we begin taking our international missions offering, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering goes 100% directly to support missionaries and their ministries in places all around the world. Last year Southern Baptists reached a record $165.8 million dollars. Our church gave generously and surpassed our goal for 2016.
We want to meet or surpass our goal of $45,000 for 2017 because there are still so many who have never heard the Gospel message. In the last year nearly 2 million people around the world heard a presentation of the Gospel from Southern Baptist mission activities funded by Lottie Moon offerings and the Cooperative Program. However, the International Mission Board reports there are still 7037 unreached people groups who need to be reached. We want the privilege of sharing in the effort to reach all people with the message of the salvation through Jesus Christ.
So as we begin the season of counting our blessings take time to provide blessings for others. Pray for missionaries and the people they will have the opportunity to build relationships with and share the message of Jesus. Give from your own personal monetary blessings to support this effort to share the Gospel with the whole world.
I also invite you to be present on November 19th to hear from one of our IMB missionaries at the Thanksgiving Banquet. Greg Hurtt will share his experiences on the field in Asia and news about their return to the mission field. You will be blessed by his testimony.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!”
