Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a global charity that distributes small gifts in shoeboxes around the world. OCC is administered by Samaritan’s Purse - a nondenominational Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to victims of war, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty, and persecution in more than 100 countries, with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

FBC Lawton supports OCC in two ways: first with our bulk packing party and second as a collection site during national collection week. Our bulk packing party will be Nov 12, after the children’s Christmas musical. The items for our packing party were purchased with generous donations from our small Sunday groups. We pack four different types of shoebox gifts: boys & girls ages 5-9 and boys & girls ages 10-14. Each type of shoebox contains items for school, an article of clothing, hygiene items, and something for fun. We will pack 275 of each type of shoebox for a total of 1,100. We need help setting up tables before the packing party and re-stocking the tables during the party.

National collection week will be Nov 13-20 and we will again be a shoebox collection site for area churches and individuals. We expect 7,000 shoeboxes from our area and need volunteers to greet and thank donors and to receive the shoeboxes.

If your family wants to pack one or more shoeboxes outside of our bulk packing party, blank shoeboxes are available through the church office. If you are available to work at the packing party or during national collection week, contact Mary Swafford at 281-851-9389 or 580-248-3526.
