As we enter the time of year known as the holiday season, we have the time to remind ourselves of all that we have been given to be thankful. It is a time when we can recall days spent with family and friends. Some of our memories are wonderful and some are ones we would sooner forget. However, whatever the circumstances, we can be thankful. We have a God who has loved us even though we are a rebellious people. He sent His Son to teach us of His overpowering love and to sacrifice Himself that we may have life and have life more abundantly. We have the opportunity to come together as a body of Christ to fellowship and celebrate another year of gracious living.
For the past several years the deacon body has sponsored the annual Thanksgiving Banquet, which will be held this year on Sunday, November 24, at 5:00 in the Family Life Center. This year we are asking for more help from the congregation. We will have a basket to accept any monetary donations you may give to defray the cost. We have fewer active deacons, therefore we need more volunteers to help set-up, decorate, serve, and clean. Our members have always been there to help in any situation, and for that we are extremely grateful. The tarps will be placed the morning of Friday, November 22 and we will start setting up the tables and chairs at approximately 10:00am. If we are unable to finish, we will continue Saturday morning decorating and setting the tables. As always this will be a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and being able to eat another wonderful turkey dinner prepared by Bob Cox and his helpers.
We will also have a missionary from the International Mission Board speak to us of their service in the ministry. Invites are available in the office or at the Welcome Desk. We look forward to seeing you at 5:00pm Sunday, November 24 in the Family Life Center.
