It has been a wonderful AWANA year! I want to say thank you to our almost 40 volunteers who showed up every week to teach and train our clubbers in the way of the Lord. You have had a lasting impact on these children. I am grateful for your commitment to our children and the AWANA program.
This year has been full of learning, games and fun. Some of our favorite club memories happened on our special nights. In September, the leaders and clubbers wrote letters and drew pictures for several missionary families and church planters, here in America and throughout the world. In November, we had a contest to see which club could collect the most canned goods for food baskets that were handed out to people in the community. The Sparks, Kindergarten to 2nd grade, won the competition with 102 canned items and earned an ice cream party. We celebrated Jesus’ birth in December with a special birthday party for Jesus, complete with party hats and cupcakes. In March, we celebrated many of the clubbers’ fathers who are active duty military with letters, pictures and a small gift to thank them for their service to our country.
We look forward to celebrating the clubbers’ accomplishments on Wednesday, May 2 at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall at our Closing Ceremony and Awards Night. We’ll hear from each Club Director about what their group has been learning this year and we’ll reward our book finishers. We invite everyone to attend and support our youngest church members.
Just because we will host our Closing Ceremony this week, doesn’t mean the fun will stop! We have planned three Fun Nights in the weeks to follow and hope you will be able to join us. On May 9th, we will host a craft night. May 16th will be game night; games will be available for all ages. Our last night of the year, May 23rd, we will host a movie night for the kids. The Fun Nights will all take place from 6pm to 7:30pm. You can check in at the AWANA Registration Table in the gymnasium.
