As I write this article, I hope all finds you well as we are starting to see some glimpses of Spring and Easter Sunday right around the corner. I would like to update you regarding the Building Renovation Committee.
The committee consists of Justin Phelps, Jeff Sadler, Marcy Bridges, Karen Bailey, Bob Cox, Dan Smith, Stacy Hart, and Mandy Bailey. Our mission is to explore a refurbished welcome area to create an inviting environment and a great first impression for those stepping through the church doors for the first time as well as welcoming those that have entered our doors for many years. The goal is to commit to excellence and create a welcome area that bridges the Lawton-Fort Sill First Baptist rich tradition of serving our community with many great days ahead for those in search of a church home.
The vision of this project can help provide that for current and future members with the common goal of seeking Christ. Our prayer is that this is the first step in the process of future projects as well. Specifically, the “T-hallway” consisting of the Hall of Memories, the hall leading to Fellowship Hall, and portions of the Sanctuary foyer are being discussed. At this time, we have visited with a contractor and an architect to assess the possibilities and estimates to do the work.
The committee welcomes any ideas that you may have and your prayers for guidance. More information is coming as we continue this process. Paul’s writings remind us in Phil. 1:27 “working side by side for the faith that comes from the gospel”. By working together, we can serve others and reach the community as we are commissioned to do. Thank you for your prayers and support. Happy Easter!
