It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Decorations are up. Lights twinkle on trees and houses. Christmas is almost here, followed shortly by a new year. With everything else going on, don’t forget to review your giving for the year.
I know 2020 has been an odd year. With all the disruption to our lives and schedules it is easy fall short on our commitments to our church and our God. We don’t mean to forget, but we do.
The good news is that it’s not too late. Now is the perfect time to review your giving for the year. Did you honor those commitments to give? Were you faithful? Did you skip a week, a month?
This is not about a guilt trip. God knows your heart. He knows what you wanted to do and He knows what you were able to give. Sometimes the situation just doesn’t work out like we expected or wanted.
It is about choosing to honor God with our finances. He has given so much. Even what we return to Him is just a small portion of what He has given to us. When we are able to give to God what we promised, but choose not to, it hurts Him. Not giving to God as we should is a break in our relationship. He mourns the lost fellowship.
Our God is the God of second chances. If you promised to give and are able, then give what you promised. If you can’t give what you promised, give what you can. Commit to faithful giving and look for ways to give more. You will never out give God.
It has been my experience that God honors faithful givers. He provides so that we can give even more and increase our joy in giving to His kingdom.
I believe God has great plans for our church. I also believe He has provided all the resources we need, if we are just faithful to give.
